Anterior intersseous Nerve Conduction Study

Abstract
Anterior interosseous nerve conduction studies were performed on 80 normal nerves of 45 healthy adults, The compound muscle action potential was obtained from the flexor pollicis longus by using the surface electrode, and from the pronator
quadratus by
using the needle electrode. We also calculated normal ratio of the flexor pollicis longus latency to the abductor pollicis brevis latency, and the pronator quadratus latency to the abductor pollicis brevis latency, by dual channel recording.
The results of the conduction study from flexor pollicis longus were; latency 3.52¡¾0.40 msec, amplitude 5.87¡¾2.71 mV, and anterior interosseous/median nerve latency ratio 0.49¡¾0.04 msec, and that from pronator quadratus were; latency
4.12¡¾0.50
msec,
amplitude 25.49¡¾10.10 mV, and anterior interosseous/median nerve latency ratio 0.57¡¾0.05. Various anterior interosseous nerve conduction study methods were reviewed.
The aterion interosseous/median nerve latency ratio technique was easy to perform and useful in contolling patient's age, temperature, and systemic illness.
